This year’s Quaker Activist Gathering (QAG) will be happening online. Although we can’t meet in person we will be gathering together for,

a spacious, intergenerational, restorative and invigorating day together, focused on witness and activism.

Alongside the workshop and conversation spaces, Turning the Tide is offering ‘faith in action’ conflict coaching taster sessions (to those attending QAG) on a first come, first served basis.

Who might find conflict coaching useful?

Anyone engaged in putting their faith into action who has a conflict or dilemma to explore. This could include things like conflict within an organising group. Tension with fellow campaigners. Or just feeling conflicted about an aspect of witness and activism.

All those who have a taster session will have the opportunity to book up to three additional conflict coaching sessions at a later date, if wanted.

What is conflict coaching?

Conflict coaching gives people one-to-one time to reflect on and develop their understanding of a challenging conflict situation. It provides a space to explore the conflict and potentially identify creative responses. The conflict coach doesn’t attempt to fix, diagnose, prescribe, resolve or suggest options. Instead, the conflict coach listens, reflects back and asks exploratory questions.

Who will the conflict coaching be with?

The conflict coach will be Lisa Cumming from Turning the Tide, trained in conflict coaching by CAOS Conflict Management.

How will the session take place?

We will meet via zoom (camera on or off) or via the phone.

Each session will last for 45 minutes per person and the timings are:

Session 1     11.10 – 11.55am
Session 2    12.30 – 1.15pm
Session 3    2 – 2.45pm
Session 4    3 – 3.45pm

How to book?

To book one of the above slots please email Lisa Cumming by Tuesday 24 November at 5pm (17.00 GMT) and we will confirm if you have a slot (and at what time) on Wednesday 25 November.

Time slots will be allocated by us. If you have a preferred time, you can let us know but we can’t guarantee you will get the time desired so please only request a conflict coaching session if you are free at all the above times.

And there’s no need to email us any details about your conflict or dilemma! We just need your request for a session, name and email address.

What if I miss out this time?

If you’re interested in faith in action conflict coaching and not able to get a slot at QAG, Turning the Tide are looking to offer further sessions. So please keep an eye out for future opportunities.
